Shawn Roets

Regional Manager, Western Cape

What did you do after Matric?

I matriculated at John Vorster High School and studied B. Compt at Unisa while doing my articles at a small chartered accounting firm. Afterward, I joined the Voltex Group.

What is your day job?

Regional Manager, Western Cape at Voltex.

When did you join D4D?

2007

Why are you involved with D4D?

The desire to make a positive impact on others, particularly children and those less fortunate, resonates deeply within me. I believe in living a life that not only enriches my own existence but also leaves a lasting legacy for future generations. Whether through acts of kindness, education, or support, I strive to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of others. By nurturing compassion, empathy, and purpose, I hope to inspire others to do the same and build a better world for all.

Tell us more about your family?

I have a lovely wife, Erica, and we have been blessed to be married for 25 years. We have two beautiful daughters, Tamryn and Jenna-Lee, of whom we are very proud.

What sport do you do? Any tough events done?

My first love is running and then cycling, but I enjoy most sports. I love the challenge of endurance events. I have completed 3 Comrades Marathons and 10 Cape Town (Argus) Cycle Tours. I have recently taken up kayaking too.

What are your future dreams for D4D?

To evolve into an organization that consistently impacts the lives of others, D4D should serve as a conduit for channeling funds toward worthy causes. Witnessing the children we’ve aided over the years thrive into adulthood, leading blessed and successful lives, should remain our aspiration.
